ENTER UNTOUCHED WILDERNESS
In 2010 Eyjafjallajokull began spewing molten lava and smoke as high as the stratosphere after being dormant for 180 years. The mighty volcoano pretty much single-handed stopped airtraffic all over the world – famous but infamous.
Even in Iceland – this mountain is special. From a distance it look like it is pure jade. This place is so remote not many people had the privilege to see Grænafjall up close.
Geothermal Energy is what drives Iceland. It is the ancient power that shaped our planet. Get up and close with this primeval power-source during our stop-over and discover one of the best things that come with it – hot-pools. If you are up for it – Get in for a dip.
BOOK YOUR HELI-TOUR
Shortly after take-off we enter the Holtsárgil Canyon and climb along the steep cliffs towards Fimmvörðuháls – where during the eruption of 2010 the volcano underneath the Eyjafjallajoekull two new craters formed. While climbing we are passing a well kept secret– a 200 ft. waterfall in the Kaldaklifsár River Canyon – not many people know about this beauty and it is a real stunner.
After flying over Fimmvörðuháls and the little mountain hut we drop back to a lower altitude and follow a black riverbed right into Þórsmörk. Here we turn north and fly over deep canyons and past solitary mountains – sights like we have entered another world. Further on we finally reach the Rhyolite Mountains of Landmannalaugar. Here we stop at a geothermal pool for a hike and a soak – so don’t forget your swimwear.
On our way back we fly over Obsidian lava fields and remote geothermal areas and last but not least have a breathtaking view of the Eyjafjallajoekull glacier.
